About Arvan Pradiansyah

Arvan Pradiansyah is a public speaker, facilitator, and columnist in several national mass media among others SWA, Gatra, Nebula, Matra, MO, Noor, and Eksekutif magazines, also Republika daily newspaper. Up to now, he has written 2 inspiring books which become best sellers called “You Are A Leader!” and “Life is Beautiful”. Besides writing, he is also a Host in “Smart Happiness” talkshow broadcasted by 95,9 SmartFM every Friday morning. Arvan – who had been a lecturer in FISIP UI for 13 years – is currently the Managing Director of the Institute for Leadership & Life Management (ILM), a training institution and consultant in Human Resources with its headquarter in Jakarta.

After graduating from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Indonesia majoring Communication, Arvan worked in Journalism and Public Relations area; however, it turned out that he found satisfaction working in Human Resources area. Feeling not yet competent in the area, Arvan continued his study and managed to get the degree of Master of Science in Industrial Relations & Human Resources Management from The London School of Economics (LSE), United Kingdom. He was eligible to receive British Chevening Awards scholarship from The British Council. Not only that, he also once received a scholarship from Japan Airlines to join “Summer Session in Asian Studies” in Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan.

In Human Resources area, Arvan once worked as a consultant in AAJ-MaST (Management & Skills Training). There, cooperating with MaST Australia, he developed the human resources training and consultancy division. MaST is an international training company with its headquarter in London, UK.

Going back to Indonesia after completing his study in the UK, in 1996, Arvan joined Development Dimension International Indonesia (DDI Indonesia), a Human Resources Consultant with its headquarter in Pittsburgh, United States. At the time he joined it, DDI had just established its office in Jakarta. Arvan was its first consultant and Master Trainer for DDI’s products made in Bahasa Indonesia such as Skills for Empowered Workforce, Targeted Selection, Performance Management, and Service Plus. During his service in DDI, Arvan also developed other DDI facilitators and consultants.

In 2000, Arvan then joined Dunamis, a human resources development consultant which is an authorized representative of Franklin Covey International with its headquarter in Utah, Salt Lake City, United States. Dunamis for instance is famous for its program, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, which is quite popular in Indonesia. While joining Dunamis, Arvan got a lot of opportunities of helping big companies in Indonesia develop their organisations and human resources.

After 3 years joining Dunamis, Arvan then decided to become a practitioner in human resources. He then joined PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia as the General Manager of Human Resources with scopes covering among others Organization & Employee Development, Recruitment & Assessment as well as Industrial Relations. Arvan then established ILM after 2 years of working in Allianz.

When he was still a student in university, Arvan was quite active in so many student and youth activities. He was chosen as “The Best Student of University of Indonesia”. He was also selected as the President of Indonesian Student Association For International Studies (ISAFIS), Vice Chairman of Student Organization of FISIP UI, Vice Chairman of Students Legislative Body of FISIP UI, Chairman of Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI)/Indonesian Student Union) London, and First Chairman of Keluarga Alumni Program Persahabatan Indonesia Jepang (KAPPIJA 21/Indonesia-Japan Friendship Association).

Arvan was also active in participating in international activities such as ASEAN Varsities Debates held in University Malaya, Malaysia; World Journalist Conference in Taipei, Taiwan; Asia Pacific journalist conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Indonesia-Australia Youth Exchange Program), The Friendship Program for the 21st Century Indonesia – Japan, Leadership Development Program in Paris, The President Club, Franklin Covey International in Hawaii and Future Search Conference in Philadelphia, United States.

Arvan now resides in Jakarta with his wife, Santy, and their 3 beloved children, Alysa, Daffa, and Rayhan.
